Dennis goes Virtual with online bouquets

He may not be open but as he explains that hasn’t stopped Dennis van Wonderen sending flowers to his customers .. albeit it in a slightly different way for the moment!

What have I been doing in these last couple of weeks?

Well, apart from worrying about my business like most of us, I have actually enjoyed a long overdue break. A break from the day job working a 70 hour + week and a chance to reflect on life and all matters surrounding it.

With the shop being shut it has given me great focus on what I can do with my business in the meantime and how I can prepare myself for what is to come at the other end of all this.

We will open our doors again but what we will know for sure is that we won't be carrying on as normal; we will be adapting to the new normal. That in itself is quite a scary thought as we don't know what the new normal is going to look like but it will also present plenty of opportunities to do things a little different and still achieve the same goal; Keeping our customers (new and old) satisfied and happy.

With that in mind I pondered over what to do with our customer base. There are numerous anniversaries, birthdays, and more poignant occasions we are missing right now by being closed.  So, I come up with a solution:

DvW body copy shotHow about sending a virtual bouquet to your loved one? I chose 4 images for customers to pick, created a template (with the help of my other half as graphic designer, see pic) and offered this service free of charge to our customers. All they need to provide is the name of the recipient, their e-mail address and a card message.

I've had an overwhelming response from my customers who have loved the idea. These virtual flowers have brighten their friends, family and loved ones lives just as the real ones would otherwise have done. I'm now even requests from the recipients to send some to their loved ones so a real snowball effect.

Have a go yourself and keep your contact with your client base going. Everyone loves something for nothing and shows you are thinking of your customers in a positive, non-selling way!
