Cut Flowers ... v4 out now!

Cut Flowers ... v4 out now!

Florists, flower arrangers and students returning to college in September can look forward to adding a brand-new edition of ‘Cut Flowers A practical guide to their selection and care’ to their bookshelves.

A fully revised and expanded Fourth edition of this popular, best-selling book has just been published by florist and writer Su Whale.  With clear and concise advice on the care and conditioning of over 160 fresh cut flowers, this A5, quick reference, easy to use guide is packed with essential information, it contains both botanical and common names, flower availability, vase life, colour range and the flower’s suitability for wedding work.

‘We deliberately have a short print run of each edition so that we can keep up with floral trends’ Su Whale said, ‘Edition Four has been completely revised; a few flowers have been dropped and new ones have been added. We have also updated some of the photography and included advice on conditioning garden grown flowers plus a brief guide to drying and preserving.’

First published in 2011, 15,000 copies have now been sold worldwide, and the companion book ‘Cut Foliage A practical guide to its selection and care’ has not been out of print since it was first published in 2013. Last year Su added a Houseplant book to the range which has proved to be very popular with florists’ shops in particular.

‘With over 25 years’ experience in the industry, I know that florists want straightforward, easily accessible information instantly to hand. That is the premise behind the style of all three books. Publishing Edition Four in the middle of a pandemic was not part of the original plan, but we are heartened by the enthusiastic response that the new edition has received so far.’

The book costs £17.99 and can be ordered here
