Bill and Kris sweep the board in Philly

Bill Schaffer and Kristine Kratt swept the board at this year’s Philadelphia Flower Show.

The couple, who run Schaffer Designs, one of the US’s most successful event florists, and Ambassadors for Floral Fundementals, worked with an international team of designers, including  the UK’s Morgan Douglas Nuth and Nicola Evans.

Taking the colourful Le Strade delle Cinque Terre as their theme and re-creating the famous stepped Italian sea front towns with a series of floral vignettes and backgrounds, the awe inspiring display was awarded a massive five prizes: 

The 2020 PHS Philadelphia Flower Show Cup for the Best in Show and the highest-scoring floral exhibit
Special Achievement Award of the Garden Club Federation of Pennsylvania awarded to an exhibit of unusual excellence in the category of creativity
PHS Gold Medal
The Phyllis M. Craig Award for best use of colour in a flowering/plant design in an innovative or unique design
The Emile H. Geschick Award for distinctive orchid display

Floral Fundamentals Partners Walter Grootscholten Phalaenopsis grower and Ansu Vanda grower supplied the flowers that once again, won the Orchid category with other Floral Fundemental growers contributing to the overall display including Vreeken Bouvardia, Montana Lisianthus, Van der Ende Amaryllis and Crown Jewels Gloriosa.
